WE ARE BACK
We were gone for awhile.
But we’re back with a BOOM!
REMEMBER US?
Gosh! Kids started in 2018 with the sole purpose of empowering children. Many parents/kids will remember our fun and engaging workshops that got children loving every single thing about it.
Between 2018 to 2021, Gosh! Kids has:
✅ Engaged with over 500+ children and parents
✅ Launched over 30+ unique programs
✅ Collaborated with over 20+ companies and brands, including a creative photography workshop with Today @ Apple
👀 WE BELIEVE IN CHILDREN!
I truly appreciate all the parents and children who have journeyed with us through those memorable times. You shaped us into who we are today.
And the best thing?
This is only the beginning.
🎉 THE REAL FUN STARTS NOW.
In 2022, Gosh! Kids went on hiatus - myself, Mathieu and our first born son, Maxime moved to Japan on a journey of self-discovery.
It’s 2023 and we are back!
This time with an even more powerful mission for our children.
For one, our mission statement remains:
To empower children to be leaders of tomorrow through
the creative arts.
Gosh! Kids will continue to do so as long as we are alive.
But I also realised that the world is rapidly evolving.
And it is affecting our children.
⚡️EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES ARE REVOLUTIONISING OUR LIVES AT A LIGHTNING SPEED.
Artificial intelligence, machine learning, blockchain technology, Web 3.0, Metaverse....
Familiar terms? You’ve probably read about them on the news.
Things are looking very different and will continue to expound in the next 5 to 10 years. Our children are going to be living in a world where these groundbreaking tech are just a normal part of everyday life. They are already getting their hands messy on some of these cool tech.
Can you even imagine?
It’s like something straight out of a science fiction movie. But it’s not just fiction anymore, it’s real and it’s happening now.
The most exciting thing?
Our children have the opportunity to be the ones shaping this future. To be the ones using these technologies for good, to bring about greater efficiency and change the way we live for the better.
BUT HERE’S THE PROBLEM.
THE EDUCATION SYSTEM ISN’T PREPARING YOUR CHILDREN FOR WHAT’S AHEAD.
The skills taught in school today are not on-par with how things will be in the future.
🔴 Memorisation & regurgitation
🔴 Facts & figures
🔴 Standardised tests
🔴 One-size-fits-all systems
Our education system breeds convergent thinking.
It's the default mode of learning - foster a sense of conformity, get to the "right answer," earn the gold star.
Rinse and repeat.
Anything that challenges this process is harmful for your children and must be controlled.
In fact, it feels like it is in denial.
We see active protest against the use of AI tools like ChatGPT.
Even crazier, the launch of new AI tools to help teachers catch AI-generated writing.
While technology is supposedly here to help us, there seems be a rising fear against it - things like social media, ChatGPT (AI), online gaming, metaverse communities, unreal digital realities…. and our natural instinct is to protect our child from the the perceived danger of these systems.
PARENTS, ARE YOU WORRIED?
Are we afraid that such tools can breed over-reliance and generate a kind of dopamine effect on our children?
Will a machine or algorithm replace my child in a snap of the finger?
Are the schools teaching my kids the skills needed to thrive in a future of work?
Will my child become obsolete in the face of revolutionary technology?
Will I lose my child to a whirlwind of digital fantasies that they never seem to get bored of?
100% REAL AND WE SHOULD BE CONCERNED
But an inconceivable truth is that many parents are valuing education systems that reward memorisation & regurgitation and punish out-of-the-box thinking. They focus on traditional methods but fail to get their child to focus on activities that trains skills needed for the future.
Here's the reality:
These technologies are not going away.
If anything, it is going to cast itself deep in stone. They are going to change the way humans do things. One thing is for sure is that we don't know what tomorrow will hold.
But here's what we know.
THE BEST WAY TO BEAT UNCERTAINTY IS TO UNDERSTAND IT.
Some experts believe that while technology will replace humans, there is also faith in human ingenuity to create new jobs, industries, and new ways of making a living.
Here's what we mean:
AS PARENTS AND EDUCATORS, WE NEED TO STAY ADAPTABLE AND OPEN-MINDED TOWARDS NEW WAYS OF DOING THINGS.
Instead of being fearful of the unknown, could we try to understand it and embrace it for a good cause?
TECHNOLOGY IS THE 21ST CENTURY PLAYGROUND FOR THE “CREATOR ECONOMY”.
The creator economy is when people make things like videos, pictures, music, and games and share them with people all over the world using the internet.
Children spend hours on their smartphones. 99% chance that they are hooked on by the products of the Creator Economy - the videos, pictures, music and games that draws their attention like bees to honey.
But while all this is happening, a massive paradigm shift is happening in their minds.
Kids are slowly being exposed to concepts like entrepreneurship, personal branding, social media and online gaming.
There was once a time we would think of these things as solely meant for grownups.
Here’s the MIND-BLOWING thing:
THE CREATOR ECONOMY IS NOT JUST A TREND, BUT A SHIFT IN THE WAY WE WORK AND LEARN.
It is no longer a niche, but a mainstream way of earning a living and fulfilling our child's creative aspirations.
As parents, it’s your responsibility to guide your children and to equip them with the necessary skills and mindset to thrive in this new economy.
In our time as kids, we often go outdoors to play tag, build sandcastles or catch spiders. Today, its filled with YouTube, Roblox and Minecraft.
It’s completely different from what we grownups were used to.
I’m sure you are uncomfortable just thinking about this.
But maybe, this is just how humans keep up with the evolving future?
We do things that are contextually relevant in our time. We don’t use fax machines, VHS tapes or floppy disks anymore. These things are considered obsolete and have no place in our lives.
So maybe catching spiders and being one with nature isn’t so attractive anymore, and that’s okay.
The question you need to ask yourself is - can I have the same perspective towards the way my children learn and engage in life?
From YouTube to TikTok to Patreon, more and more people are turning to the Creator Economy for income and fulfilment.
And the coolest part?
You are never ‘too young’ to create, monetize work and stand out among the masses.
In a time where technology is making everything similar, distinctiveness is of paramount importance.
FOR OUR CHILDREN TO SUCCEED IN THE FUTURE OF WORK, THEY NEED TO BE DIFFERENT.
In a competitive world, children will need to establish their own unique identity.
In a world of noise, authenticity is the only way to be heard.
And in a world of copycats, originality is the key to speaking to millions.
Do we think that children should approach education by being in a system of ‘same-ness’, a one-size-fits-all concept?
I'm not saying that traditional education is useless and should be eradicated from our lives.
School is important. Grades and qualifications play a significant role in providing a stepping stone into the life of work.
But it is not enough, and if our approach to learning doesn’t evolve with times, we risk getting left behind.
Not us, but your children.
🌈 THERE’S HOPE. THERE’S A WAY.
This is where it gets exciting.
At Gosh! Kids, I am extremely excited to journey with your children to uncover the best versions of themselves.
I am here to empower them find their authenticity in the digital age through the creative arts (& technology).
This is why Gosh! Kids exist.
🗺️ EVERY CHILD IS A NATURAL EXPLORER. THEY HAVE AN INSATIABLE CURIOSITY WITHIN THEM TO DISCOVER NEW THINGS.
I discovered this while watching my son Maxime grow up in the past 1 year in Japan.
But I also realised that sometimes, he lacks guidance and the tools to navigate his journey of discovery. Maybe this is the case for your children.
You must know this:
Creativity will become the currency of the future, and children who have it in abundance will lead the world.
But many parents fail to grasp the power of the creative arts.
💗 WE SPECIALIZE IN CREATIVE ARTS BECAUSE IT TEACHES THEM TO BE CREATIVE, UNVEILS THEIR PERSPECTIVES, AND EMPOWERS THEM TO TELL STORIES.
Moreover, we do not focus solely on the technicalities of the creative arts (photography, art, design) alone. While these are important, we believe in deep-diving into the creative aspects - the conceptualising of ideas and perspectives within their minds and through their eyes.
By developing these skills, children are able to establish trust, increase their visibility and create a positive image of themselves, effectively building their own personal brand. They will learn to create value instead of consume.
Through our programs, they can learn skills that are irreplaceable and transferrable in any environment.
Skills like:
Entrepreneurship
Personal branding
Creative expression
Discernment
Portfolio management
Teamwork & collaboration
Adaptability
Critical thinking
Problem solving
Through our unique and original blend of creative arts & technology, we will show them the power of creativity, prepare them for adaptability and cultivate their curiosity.
To rise about the waves and showcase their authenticity to the world.
Empowerment starts today.
Tomorrow, the future begins.
