THE POWER OF THE CREATIVE ARTS

Hey!

Do you believe the creative arts such as photography, art and design can change the minds of your children?

Now, for the next 4 minutes, listen to what I have to say.

In years to come, the world will witness a cloud of emerging technologies that will revolutionize everything we do.

CREATIVITY WILL BECOME THE CURRENCY OF THE FUTURE.

Those who have it in abundance will lead the world.

But an inconceivable truth is that many parents are valuing education systems that reward memorisation & regurgitation and punish out-of-the-box thinking. They focus on traditional methods but fail to get their child to focus on activities that trains skills needed for the future.

Activities like the creative arts - photography, art, design.

We are not saying that institutional school systems aren’t important. A college degree will land you a basic job offer. Children learn important social skills as they interact with their classmates. They must understand basic math and science to make sense of what is around them.

But it does not give your child this crucial thing:

The skills needed to survive in this rapidly changing world.

A world filled with AI that will replace humans with machines & algorithms.

Truth is, conventional wisdom about traditional education can be made obsolete overnight. What may seem like common sense today may be proven to be outdated in the near future. This has happened many times in history.

Like how the printing press made hand-copying a foolish thing to do.

THE CREATIVE ARTS HAVE THE ABILITY TO TRANSFORM THE MINDS OF OUR CHILDREN BUT MANY PARENTS FAIL TO GRASP THE POWER OF THIS NICHE.

There are possibly many reasons for this but I’ll focus on 2:

  • Human error in judgement: the result of outdated or misguided beliefs about the value of creative arts has led to its exclusion in our children’s learning journey. The lack of understanding about the skills and abilities that these subjects can cultivate has caused parents to prioritise ‘proven’ or ‘traditional’ paths like math and science.

  • Complacency: a sense of complacency or a lack of desire to challenge the status quo. Result of a fear of change or a lack of motivation to explore alternative approaches to education. Institutional education systems control the learning approach for our children so many parents take a backseat and let it decide for their child.

We are not saying that the current education system is useless and should be eradicated from your children’s lives.

Rather, it is crucial to be open-minded and adaptable in our approach to education and not to be swayed by conventional wisdom that may not hold up in a rapidly changing world.

Zoom out and understand how the creative arts can be beneficial for your child, and more importantly, prepare them with the skills necessary to thrive.

Technology is disrupting traditional industries and creating new opportunities.

But it’s also making it more competitive to stand out.

From design to content creation to entrepreneurship, creativity will be in high demand in the future of work.

But the benefits of creative arts extend far beyond just professional success.

IT HAS THE POWER TO SHAPE AND ENRICH YOUR CHILD’S ENTIRE BEING IN 3 WAYS.

Physical:

✅ Fine motor skills

✅ Hand-eye coordination

✅ Spatial awareness

In photography, children must adjust the camera’s focus and exposure, frame shots, and manipulate settings to achieve the desired result. They must consider the placement of objects within the frame and how they relate to one another.

Multiple factors. 1 objective.

In art and design, children must consider the placement and arrangement of elements within their work, as well as how they will be viewed by an audience. Their hands will be used to create lines, shapes, and textures, while also visualizing and planning the work.

Navigating the space (mentally and physically) around us is a crucial form of awareness that must be developed from a young age.

Cognitive:

✅ Critical thinking

✅ Problem solving

✅ Planning & organization

Children must consider the composition, lighting, and subject of their shots, and make decisions about how to best capture and convey their ideas. They also analyze and evaluate their own work and the work of others to identify strengths and weaknesses, and determine how to improve.

From planning and executing a photo shoot, considering the location, subject, equipment, timing and cost - these organizational skills are vital in our chaotic lives.

Children will need to troubleshoot technical issues with their camera or find alternative ways to capture a shot.

Overcoming obstacles such as limited materials or time, or find ways to express their ideas in new and innovative ways.

They have to activate their analytical mind in order to achieve the desired results.

Emotional:

✅ Self-expression

✅ Empathy

✅ Stress relief

Children must be in a safe and supportive space to express themselves and their ideas, which can help build self-esteem and confidence.

Children can use their camera to capture and express their personal experiences and emotions. Through art and design, they can use a variety of materials and techniques to create work that reflects their unique perspectives and ideas.

With experience and reflection, children will make sense of what they are doing.

They learn to communicate their thoughts and feelings in a healthy and positive way, which can help build self-esteem and confidence.

Engaging in creative arts can also provide children with a sense of relaxation and stress relief. Photography and art can be a therapeutic and meditative activity that helps children clear their minds and focus on what matters.

When they find comfort in their purpose, everything goes up from there.

THE MOST POWERFUL FORCE IN THE UNIVERSE.

Creativity.

Your children have the innate ability to be creative. They just need the right activities that can enhance and trigger those muscles. There's no better activity than the creative arts itself.

It’s not just for the 'talented' few, but for everyone.

In time to come, your children will need to use their creativity to stand out among the masses. They will need to develop their authenticity in this digital age. Through their work, they will create value and deliver it to the people who need to see it.

From passive consumers to active creators, they will fight the war against mediocrity.

THIS IS OUR PURPOSE

We deep dive into the experimentation and execution of photography, art, design programs that will unleash their imaginations.

We help them transform their creative fantasies into something tangible. Soon, they will realise that there is a world of unlimited opportunities and possibilities.

And through a safe and supportive space, we want to help our children unlock their full potential and maximize their learning experience.

By exposing them to the creative arts, we’re not just providing them with the tools they need to survive, but also giving them the keys to their success.
